The United Nations Environment Programme, also known as UNEP is the global environmental authority that promotes sustainable development as the climate change solution, this programme assess global, regional and national environmental conditions, it develops environmental instruments, and strengths institutions for the management of the environment, its main aim is to create leadership and conscience in the global population to solve and prevent problems regarding climate change. It was founded by Maurice Strong, its first director, as a result of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in June 1972. Its headquarters are located in the Gigiri neighborhood of Nairobi, Kenya.
